My name is Jaime “Rosie” Rosegren and I’m running for IATSE 479 Business Representative.

The Film Industry has changed; it’s time we changed with it.

How do we adapt to an evolving industry to stay relevant as a filming destination and protect our members? It’s time for a different approach to lead our Local into a new chapter. We need to build a community of members who are ready to support each other, stand beside one another, and fight for better conditions for us all.

I believe in building solidarity through community.

By using our existing infrastructure, we can support each other and build connections within our Local so that we can count on each other to uphold the contract, show up in solidarity for each other, and work together to create better working conditions.

  • By creating working groups per department, we can troubleshoot existing issues to see what can be handled within our Local, and what needs to be brought to the International.
  • By holding regular open office hours and monthly meetings for members to bring issues and discuss possible solutions with the Business Rep.
  • By training all Reps and Stewards to uphold the contract and develop ongoing classes for all members to learn the basics of all the contracts.

It is my job to fight for you.

Members should not have to put their jobs on the line to hold their show to minimum conditions. I want to build a robust network of members who are educated on our contracts, labor law, and OSHA rules so that we can be better prepared to take care of each other.

  • The Business Representative should be in contact with all Productions to ensure that they are hiring Locally first.
  • The Business Rep should ensure all productions follow all safety protocols on set and off.
  • The Business Rep should be communicating with other IA Locals to verify work and working to solve common issues.
  • We need to our Field Reps to be communicating with members and the Bus. Rep so that we have a constant flow of information and can easily solve issues.

The Business Representative runs the office.

Their job includes ensuring the office staff are serving members and answering questions as well as assisting Executive Board Members in their duties. This includes providing access to financial information, as well as processing payroll. Part of the disconnect within the office because our current Rep has divided attention with too many roles outside the scope of their position.
